Ringo Starr went the unconventional route while searching for someone to create a music video for his newest single "Wings" by turning it into a competition. Filmmakers were given the opportunity to send in their entries to be chosen by Universal Music Enterprises and some of the world's most influential artists. Starr congratulated the winner, Jem Gerard, in a video statement on his website.
"Wings" is the first single off of "Ringo 2012."
While Gerard was celebrating his win, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were reunited with five guitars that were reportedly stolen.
Police have arrested a security guard after the instruments went missing from a sound stage where the band was rehearsing. The lead singer took to Twitter saying, "No questions ASKED just want them back." Luckily for the band and fans his wish was granted.
In other Twitter news, Nicki Minaj bid farewell to the social media mini-blogging site and her 11 million followers after a fan site started leaking tracks off her new album "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded," which debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200.
Continuing with rap news, Tupac Shakur made a comeback to the stage 16 years after his death at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog used hologram technology to perform with the deceased rapper in a memorable show. The Wall Street Journal reports that this technology may be able to take the late rapper on tour.
As Coachella honored Tupac, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honored its latest inductees sans Axl Rose. The rest of his former band mates of Guns N' Roses accepted the honor along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Miracles led by Smokey Robinson.
