Officials say an early morning house fire has claimed the lives of 4 people in Philadelphia, including 2 children.

Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers says the two children and one adult were pronounced dead at a hospital. He says a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ayers told reporters at the scene the fire broke out before 5 a.m. Monday in West Philadelphia and was under control in a little more than a half-hour.

No further information on the victims was immediately released. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Ayers says firefighters on the scene have not found any smoke detectors inside the home.
